Welcome
TearsCOPING - Caring for Other People IN Grief - is a bereavement support group whose mission is to companion others who have lost someone through death. COPING is intended to serve as a ‘lifeboat’ during one of life’s worst storms.

At some point in our lives, we all have experienced loss or know someone who has. It may have been a child, parent, brother or sister, a teacher, grandparent or friend. Those who have experienced loss know the pain and turmoil that accompanies grief.

Most of us have friends and family who support and care for us during the days and weeks immediately following a loss, but what about months, or even years later? The pain does not always lessen as time goes by.

Too often, we are expected to ‘get-over’ a loss and ‘move-on’ in a short period of time. In reality however, we are forever changed - riding a roller coaster of emotions - flooded with questions, memories and sometimes plagued with feelings of numbness, anger and guilt.

COPING can help. It is not about forgetting loved ones, nor about dwelling on grief. It’s about companionship, compassion and healing. Each volunteer involved in COPING genuinely cares for others because they too have suffered loss through death.
